PTC Powerlifting

The sport of Powerlifting is a big part of what PTC is involved in. The mission being to promote the sport as professional, well run and available to anyone from the beginner to elite.

PTC runs numerous novice competitions throughout the year to help introduce and nurture new lifters to the sport. At this style of entry level competition, new lifters can learn the ins and outs of what it’s like to step on to the platform with the right equipment, rules and officials in place.

PTC has a large Powerlifting team of around 50 lifters who are committed to the sport and continually strive to improve not only themselves but the team around them. PTC is represented at competitions around the country with some fantastic achievements. Some of the big achievements from 2015 include:

  • Linus Lim totalling 772.5kg at 82.35kg bodyweight to break the Australian all time 82.5kg record at the 2015 GPC Perth Cup. Linus’ 322.5kg squat will put him somewhere near the top 5 Powerlifting Watch all time word record squat list (to be confirmed).
  • Darwin Suteerawanit who totalled 765kg in the 90kg category as a teenager to win Best Teen at this years 2015 GPC Nationals.
  • Yianni Magoulias who won the GPC and GPA WA State Titles totalling 700kg at 75kg bodyweight. He’s one of three to total 700kg or more in Australian history in the 75kg category.

The Powerlifting team at PTC is welcoming to new lifters whether you are a complete beginner or elite . Strength isn’t measured in kilos on the bar, it’s more about mindset. Everyone starts somewhere. Lifters aren’t born squatting 300kg, it takes discipline, hard work and the right environment – of which PTC has.

If you are interested in being a part of what we do and joining our team then contact us.
